Student Exchange Program at EIT

Student Exchange Program to Take Place in EIT Next Semester

The Eastern Institute of Technology expands its international reach by continuing its student exchange program this time as well. The institute has chosen two students who will head to Germany next month where they will pursue equivalent courses and get few steps closer to their degrees. EIT already has partnerships with 45 different educational institutions across the globe, and now they are aiming to expand their relationships in Europe and Asia by providing further opportunities to students.

Analee Sherratt, Bachelor of Business Studies student, and Paula Wright, Bachelor of Computing Systems student, are flying out in August to spend a semester at OTH Regensburg University of Applied Science through the EIT exchange program. The educational and personal experience gained through the international exchange is something that appeals to both students. Both of them are going to attend two weeks of intensive language training prior to study commencing to develop their German.

The International Director, Philippa Jones stated that the benefit would work both ways as some of the international students would get the opportunity to experience the learning environment at Eastern Institute of Technology while few EIT students would be exploring the same at a foreign institute. She also added that the growth of international students into Hawke’s Bay delivers many advantages for the region.

The partnership with OTH Regensburg and other international educators across the globe has brought genuine possibilities for collaborative research and staff exchanges. According to EIT marketing lecturer Regan Cotter, this international exchange program is an incredible opportunity, not only for the students but also for the lecturers like him to expand their knowledge and skills.
