Increase in Fees for LHU Students

Student fees for living in a traditional hall and for living in Campus Village are increasing at Lock Haven University for the coming academic year by 3 percent. This means that living in a double room at a residence hall would cost $3,164 per semester and living in an efficiency at Campus Village would cost $4,058 per semester. The fees at Fairview Suites are unchanged.

The meal plan fees a have also increased by 8%. These fees fund all costs of maintaining and running the food service facilities in the places like Bentley Hall cafeteria, NanoBites on East Campus, the C3 Express Cafe in Willis Health Professional Building, and the convenience store in Robinson Learning Center.

LHU has introduced the cancellation fee schedule which would relieve the students who have signed a housing contract but have changed his mind. Previously, the student had to pay the fee for an entire semester even though he is not staying there. However, the student facilities fee has gone up by $7 per semester. This particular fee funds Parsons Union Building and the Student Recreation Center.

These fee increases have been recently approved by the Lock Haven University Council of Trustees. Morgan Bailey, the current President of the student government board, said that the suggestion tables were organized around the campus this spring to see what could be improved. Most of the students said they would like to see improvement in the quality of the food. Bailey also mentioned that more than 2,700 students took an active part in one or more student clubs and there are more than 121 active clubs on the campus, including Greek life (fraternities and sororities).

In the past decade, four-year cumulative graduation rates at Lock Haven University have raised from 27.8 percent to 36.9 percent. The university administration’s goal is for that number to reach 45 percent.
