Applications Invited for Undergraduate Programmes in Oxford University

The application process for admission into the University of Oxford will soon be underway for those who aspire to graduate from one of the elite universities in the world on completion of their plus-two level education. The esteemed seat of education invites admission applications a year ahead of the commencement of lessons and those willing to pursue an undergraduate course from October next year have to apply September 2017 onwards.

Indian students wishing to apply for an undergraduate course at Oxford University have to qualify the CBSE or ISC (higher secondary, 10+2) with a minimum of 90 percent in all the five elective subjects whereas a valid JEE Advanced score may also be required for those who want to take up science subjects for their undergraduate programmes.

The medium of instruction for all courses taught in Oxford being English, the Indian students must also substantiate their proficiency in English through the English language proficiency test scores. The requisite scores for various English language proficiency tests accepted at Oxford University are:

  • Certificate of Advanced English (CAE)/ Cambridge English (Advanced): Minimum score of 185 (or Grade A if taken before January 2015)
  • Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)/ Cambridge English (Proficiency): Minimum score of 185 (or Grade B if taken before January 2015)
  • IELTS Academic: Overall band score of 7.0 with a minimum of 7.0 in each of the four segments
  • TOEFL PBT: Overall score of 600 with a minimum score of 5.5 on the Test of Written English
  • TOEFL CBT: Overall score of 110 with a minimum of 24 in Writing, 25 in Speaking, 24 in reading and 22 in Listening segments

The University of Oxford requires applicants to apply through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) form, which will be available online from the first week of September. The deadline for application submission is 15th October 2017.
